What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium screw placed into the jawbone, acting as a foundation for a crown, bridge, or denture. The jawbone naturally integrates with the implant over time, making it a permanent solution that functions, feels, and looks like a natural tooth.

We offer three types of dental implants:

  • Single Implants

If you’ve lost a single tooth, a dental implant is a great option for restoring both function and appearance. Unlike removable dentures or dental bridges, which may rely on surrounding teeth, implants are permanently fixed into the jaw, offering a stable and durable solution that won’t affect your other teeth.

  • Implant Bridges

For those with several missing teeth, implant bridges provide a fixed, permanent solution to replace multiple teeth at once. These bridges can replace a few missing teeth or even an entire set, offering both aesthetic and functional benefits while restoring your smile and bite.

  • Implant-Retained Dentures

If traditional dentures slip or cause discomfort, implant-retained dentures could be the ideal solution. Using as few as two implants on the lower jaw or four implants on the upper jaw, dentures can be securely fixed, offering greater stability and comfort. Often, existing dentures can be modified to be attached to implants, allowing you to enjoy a more reliable and comfortable fit.

Who is a Good Candidate for Dental Implants?

To be eligible for dental implants, you will need to undergo an examination of your mouth and jaw. We will also discuss your medical history and lifestyle. Smoking can significantly increase the risk of implant failure, so it’s recommended that you quit smoking before the procedure and remain smoke-free throughout your treatment.(quora)

Additionally, we will take X-rays and CT scans to assess the density of your jawbone and ensure that it is sufficient to support the implants. We will also check for any signs of gum disease, as this can impact the success of the procedure.

How Long Do Dental Implants Take?

The dental implant process usually requires multiple visits and can take anywhere from 3 to 6 months to complete. The length of time depends on how long it takes for the implant to fuse with the jawbone in a process called osseointegration. We will discuss the full timeline with you during your consultation.
